Bruce Coney was born in South Africa and grew up in farming communities there. He was always fascinated with the art and colours used by the different peoples in South Africa.
After gaining a degree in Economics and Marketing Bruce emigrated to Canada with his small family. They settled in Deep Cove, North Vancouver and Bruce went to work for newspapers in Vancouver in the Advertising field. In the nineties Bruce owned two newspapers in Vancouver and North Vancouver.
In 2001 the Coney’s moved to Salt Spring Island with the idea of starting a craft studio. Glassware soon became the number one medium. It allowed Bruce the opportunity to explore a wide variety of colours whilst creating pieces that are useful in the home. The fact that most of the glassware used is recycled was a bonus.

To create a cruet pourer Bruce sources a recycled bottle, cleans off all labels and markings, washes and sterilizes and paints it by hand with a special glass paint.
The bottle is then fired and the paint cures and bonds onto the glass. A pourer is then added and, voila, you have a very useful cruet bottle that can be used for olive oil, vinegar, salad dressing, dish detergent, liquid soap – virtually anything you can pour.
All glassware items can be washed with hot water and detergent.
The fact that the glassware is recycled means that Bruce can keep his products affordable.
